BrainForge: research to writing, Years 3-6
BrainForge helps children aged 8-12 turn online research into their own structured informative writing, and gives you a record you can keep for your home education reporting.
What your child does
Your child pastes their research in, but they can't copy it straight into their writing. They pick out exactly three facts (a date, a figure or a specialised word), and then the source is hidden, so they write from those three facts in their own words. Next they build the piece with a main title, subheaders and paragraphs, with tips on structure, and see it laid out on lined workbook paper with a red margin. Grammar and punctuation checks look for capital letters, proper nouns such as days, months and states, end punctuation, and a space after a full stop.
For your records
You can keep profiles for several children. A checklist comes up before printing, and you can export your records as a .json file. The A4 print report is designed as an evidence record for home education reporting. It lists the learning areas as English: Language and English: Literacy, and describes only what your child actually did: the facts they recorded, their title, subheaders and paragraphs, the word count, and that pasting was switched off. It keeps your child's real mistakes as genuine work samples.
Private on your device
BrainForge works fully offline in your browser. Chrome or Edge work best. Your child's writing and records stay on your device only.
